My leadership style is to invite new, innovative ideas, even when they challenge the status quo. I am a strong believer that you have to be constantly evolving and I encourage other leaders to create open, collaborative environments where people feel comfortable to make suggestions and challenge each other.
As a leader, it is hard to be in one lane, doing a great job of listing and selling, while at the same time, being fully focused on your team and their sales careers. As the CEO of Coronis Group, my role involves fostering growth and expansion, and that involves objectively analysing what a business is lacking and offering solutions. I have an operational mind and I focus on making the business bigger, better and faster. Anything to do with running the business lands on me which is exciting because I get to have a lot of influence over what I want to happen.
Tip #1: Be objective.
When I started out as the CEO, I researched other big, successful players across diversified industries, including Google and SalesForce as sources of inspiration. I changed a lot of infrastructure to allow the business to pivot, to help grow the sales divisions and create collaborative working environments.
Tip #2: Don’t try to reinvent the wheel.
The process involved ensuring that individual divisions were not working in silos, and there was a steady flow of referral business between the property management, administration and residential sales divisions. I made sure every Director in the network was multi-skilled and understood the intricacies and workflow of each division. That way, I could be sure we were getting the best outcome for the client, the business was operating optimally and there was a harmonious working environment.
Tip: #3: When you run alone you run fast, when you run together you run far.
I focus on equity, not having an unconscious bias and listening to what people have to say. The leaders that run our teams come from diverse backgrounds, including outside businesses, bringing fresh eyes and fresh energy to the business. My leadership style is to invite new, innovative ideas, even when they challenge the status quo. I am a strong believer that you have to be constantly evolving and I encourage other leaders to create open, collaborative environments where people feel comfortable to make suggestions and challenge each other.
Tip #4: Invite collaboration and celebrate innovation, even when it feels uncomfortable.
I am here to help you to streamline strategy, set up sustainable structures and processes, and grow your divisions. I am hands-on in my approach, but I also give space to people to make their own mistakes. I am approachable, I will take on feedback, I am open and caring and the door is always open. I truly want to see people better their lives.
